Review: Eskimo Joe – Inshalla

Inshalla
Warner Music
It was a pretty proud day when Eskimo Joe took on the big hitters in Eminem, and Green Day and won.
When the band released their new record, Inshalla, last week it shot straight to the top of the Aussie charts.
Not only did it beat Eminem and Green Day, it sailed past Lily Allen, Lady GaGa, and the Twilight soundtrack to take top billing.

Eskimo Joe's new album cover
Not bad for trio from West Australia.
Though the question needs to be asked, is the album worth the hype? Despite the killer hooks and Turkish instrumental of the album’s lead single, Foreign Land, does the rest of the album stack up?
The answer? Hell yes!
Inshalla is no doubt a more mature offering from Eskimo Joe.
Though really, who wants to hear a repeat of Black Fingernails, Red Wine, particularly when you’ve got a menu of new tasty offerings?
There is a serious bent to this record, with the love lorn break-up songs absent.
In their place happy pop melds with Middle Eastern delight while stripped back ditties dance with a fresh injection of energy.
This album is just sensational.
Fives stars
