Review: Little Birdy – Confetti

Confetti
Universal
There is something so rich and powerful about this album.
Up until now Little Birdy has been known as the Perth band that hugged the line between cutsey pop and indie rock.

Little Birdy
With Confetti, Little Birdy have not only proved to themselves but to all others that they are a band who aren’t a one or few trick pony.
While some may suggest Little Birdy have returned to their roots on this album – with the band’s stripped back sound – this suggestion couldn’t be further from the truth.
The band has pushed many boundaries on this release – sonically and lyrically.
The iconic use of a harmonica (and Paul Kelly) in the track Brother shook away the cobwebs and possible disappointment of the band’s previous release, Hollywood.
The fresh style that Brother affords echoes throughout the remainder of the record.
Album tracks such as Hairdo, Into My Arms, Stay Wild and Run Run Run also easily showcase the versatility and new confidence of Little Birdy.
There is no doubt in my mind that Confetti will go down in history as one of the greatest modern day Aussie releases of all time.
Five stars
