Oh brother, this is one pearler of a debut from Angus Stone.

Best known as one part of Aussie duo Angus and Julia Stone, the illusion of Angus being the shy guy with acoustic guitar in hand is shattered with this album.

The album was recorded in between tours for Angus and Julia Stone during the past year.

While Smoking Gun does have its quiet moments, if you’re looking for an album of dreamy ditties and appropriate amounts of brooding, then look elsewhere.

Smoking Gun is a heaving beast, gutsy and unpredictible.
