Heart is a sensational return for Bertie Blackman.
The Sydney singer has been pretty quiet since the release of her last record, Black.

Bertie Blackman
While she had a brilliant collaboration with Paul Mac on the track, The Only One, from Aussie film, ‘Hey, Hey it’s Esther Blueburger’, little has happened on the album front for Blackman until now.
Heart has been lifted off Blackman’s much-anticipated new album, Secrets And Lies.
The single is a thumping, pulsating, guttural reminder of Blackman’s sublime talent.
Thick with her distinctive vocals, Heart, shows Blackman’s shift away from her usual stripped back rock to embrace a more atmospheric synth sound.
The single has an incredible energy, as though a flood of electricity exists between Blackman’s voice and the track’s melody.
Heart is a delicious sonic maze.
Five stars
