Sleepy Jackson take a break

Rumours the Perth duo of Luke Steele and Malcolm Clark have split have been doing the rounds for the last year.
“The Sleepy Jackson are currently taking a break while Luke Steele works on projects such as Empire Of The Sun (with Nick Littlemore of Pnau) and his solo material for the upcoming support for MGMT tour throughout Australia in December,” a statement from the band’s management said.
Earlier this month, Clark kicked off a support tour with Bob Evan’s national tour. Clark has been billed on Evans’ tour as “ex-Sleepy Jackson drummer”.
“My new band is coming along well and I’m really excited about touring this record….trust me, it’s going to be fantastic! The first tour however, will be just me and Mal Clark performing as a duo,” Evans said.
Clark and Steele have not released new material under the Sleepy Jackson name since their latest album, Personality: One Was A Spider, One Was A Bird, was released in 2006.
In recent times Clark has gone on to perform and record with other bands including Starky and From The Skies.
Steele has also been busy with side projects, having just released a new album with Pnau member Nick Littlemore under the name, Empire Of The Sun.
Steele is said to also be working on a project with Silverchair frontman, Daniel Johns, to be named Hathaway and Palmer after William Hathaway and Walter Palmer.
