Presets, You Am I lead EG charge

The Presets and You Am I are leading the charge for most nominations at this year’s EG Awards.

Joining The Presets and You Am I with the highest number of nominees for the Aussie music awards are multi- ARIA award winner Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu and Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

The Presets’ album Apocalypso is leading the best album category from You Am I’s Dilettantes, Yunupingu’s Gurrumul and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Dig Lazarus Dig!!!

You Am I are leading the best band category ahead of rappers TZU and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Yunupingu leads the best male artist category, holding almost 50 per cent of the votes tallied so far.

Newcomers Holly Throsby and Sophie Koh are neck and neck in the best female artist category.

In the Best Song category, The Presets continue to dominate votes with their single My People. Also doing well, are Yunupingu and Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

You Am I’s Hi-Fi Way is a clear leader of the Best Australian Album of All Time poll ahead of INXS’ Kick and AC/DC’s Back In Black.

The EG Awards are presented by Melbourne newspaper, The Age.
