Franz Ferdinand will play a number of solo sideshows when they visit Australia early next year.

The Scottish outfit will perform two headlining solo shows in Sydney and Melbourne next January.

Franz Ferdinand will bring songs off their new album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, on tour with them.

Produced by Dan Carey (Kylie Minogue, Fatboy Slim, CSS, Sia), Tonight: Franz Ferdinand will be released in 2009.

UK band The Cribs and Sydney outfit Red Riders have been named as tour support.

Franz Ferdinand will be in Australia later this year to perform as part of The Falls Festival, and The Byron Bay Music and Arts Festival.
