My Morning Jacket will take time out from their Big Day Out festival shows to play a number of sideshows.

The US outfit will play two extra shows, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne in January next year.

The two shows are separate from the group’s support shows for Canadian artist Neil Young.

The extra shows, entitled ‘An evening with My Morning Jacket’ will see the band play two sets and be on stage for close to three hours.

My Morning Jacket’s upcoming shows will be their first Australian shows in close to five years.
