Josh Pyke has scored a top three debut on Australia’s mainstream album charts with his new record.

The Sydney-based singer rocketed into the number three spot with new album, Chimney’s Afire.

Pyke’s album was beaten to the top spot by international bands Kings of Leon and Metallica.

Kings of Leon look set to be the one to beat, with the US band’s new album, Only By The Night, sitting pretty at number one for four weeks solid.

The next best placed Aussie is another new entrant, Empire Of The Sun.

Empire Of The Sun, the side project for Sleepy Jackson member Luke Steele and Pnau member Nick Littlemore, debuted in number eight spot with their album, Walking On A Dream.

Pyke released Chimney’s Afire last week.
