JBT plans new album… confirms ARIA appearance

Posted on 12 October 2008 by Kate Kachor

The John Butler Trio are planning to record a new album before the end of the year.

“We’ll be going into the studio to record the next album (I can’t wait) a little bit after that with the hopes to release some mighty players and we might be releasing some of that stuff in between now and then,” singer John Butler posted on the trio’s myspace.

The Western Australian-based band have spent much of 2008 on the road touring in support of their album, Grand National.

“For the last two years we’ve toured 9 1/2 months a year. My boy has spent 4 out of his 24 months at home. We’ve all worked hard and played hard and have had an absolute ball making this music and being part of this movement with you,” Butler said.

“So now we are gonna take a little well earned holiday. Enjoy our own beds and enjoy the finer things in life: family, food, sleep, song and sun.”

While there is no confirmation as to when The John Butler Trio’s new album will be released, the band will release their album Sunrise Over Sea as a vinyl double album before the end of the year.

Before then Butler can be seen at this year’s ARIA awards where he will act as a presenter.

He will be joined by Rove Mcmanus, Myf Warhurst, Chris Lilley, Josh Pyke, Ricki-Lee, Brian Mcfadden, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Human Nature And Vanessa Amorosi as presenters.

Performers on the night will include Sam Sparro, The Living End, Gabriella Cilmi, The Presets, Faker, The Veronicas, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu And Pink!

The 2008 Aria Awards will be broadcasted on Channel 10 at 7.30pm on Sunday, 19 October.
