The Prodigy has been named among a list of international and local talent for next year’s Big Day Out festival.

UK powerhouse will join the likes of Arctic Monkeys, TV on the Radio, My Morning Jacket, Bullet For My Valentine, Simian Mobile Disco, The Ting Tings, and previously reported Canadian artist Neil Young.

On the local front, The Living End, Sneaky Sound System, Pendulum, Tiki Taane, Cut Copy, Cog, Youth Group, The Grates, Birds Of Tokyo, TZU, Eddy Current Suppression Ring have been named as part of the 2009 festival line up.

Details of a second line-up announcement is expected in the coming weeks, festival organisers said.

So far the 2009 Big Day Out festival features:

Gold Coast: Thursday 9th October
Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth: Friday 10th October
