The Mountain Goats have announced new Australian tour dates, five months after illness forced the band to cancel their April tour.

The US band were due to tour the country earlier this year, however, personal issues forced them to withdraw.

The Mountain Goats will now return for a solo tour this December.

The band will already be in the country in December to play Australia’s Meredith Music Festival.

They will travel to Australia with their drummer, Jon Wurster (Superchunk), for the first time.

The trio will also bring their new album, Heretic Pride, with them on tour.

Heretic Pride was produced by Scott Solter and John Vanderslice.

The album was recorded by Solter along with Aaron Prellwitz at Prairie Sun and was also mixed by Solter.
