Jet talk about new album

“Expect an album out early next year,” Jet bass player Cam Muncey said in a video post on the band’s website.
“And we’ll be in a town near you soon because we’re going to tour our arse off and get on the road. We haven’t toured live since September last year.”
The Melbourne outfit are currently working on the follow up to their 2006 release, Shine On.
Commenting on the new album, band singer Nic Cester said: “There’s a vibe and an energy within the group that hasn’t existed for a long time.”
“I think the first album was naive and fun, I think the second album was us just trying too hard, and this one is just us really relaxed and being comfortable in our own skin and getting along and really wanting to create something interesting,” he said.
The new album offers the band a chance to take back control over their destiny, according to drummer Chris Cester.
“It [the last album] was really dark. The album cover was black and our father had passed away, mine and Nic’s, and it was really difficult to have kind of a really free and exciting atmosphere in the studio so [the new album] is just really free and fun this time,” Cester said.
“And we’re kind of more in control of our destiny. It just sounds like we don’t give a shit and that’s kind of how we are.”
Jet’s new album is apparently being recorded in Atlantic Sound Studios in New York City, according to the band’s Wikipedia page.
The band will return to Australia to ring in the New Year on the Gold Coast as headliners for Odyssey NYE ‘09.
