Youth Group will embark on a national co-headlining tour with theredsunband next month.

The Sydney bands will perform an 18-date tour this October.

There is quite a history between the two groups, with theredsunband supporting Youth Group in 2002. It was the first gig for the band with Liz Kelly on keyboards.

This week, lead singers from the bands, Toby Martin and Sarah Kelly met at Erskineville Oval in Sydney armed with a 1952 Australian Penny with which to decide who would headline each night of the tour.

The bands will headline one night each in Sydney and Melbourne and share all other dates equally.

The tour will give Youth Group a chance to continue their extensive run of dates on the back of the release of their new album, The Night Is Ours.

Youth Group released The Night Is Ours earlier this year.

The tour also gives Theredsunband a chance to tour their new album, The Shiralee.
