Cloher finishes new album

Posted on 21 September 2008 by Kate Kachor

Jen Cloher and The Endless Sea have finished recording their new studio album.

The Melbourne band recorded the follow up to their debut, Dead Wood Falls, at Woodstock Studios with Paul McKercher (Augie March, Eskimo Joe, You Am).

“We start mixing the first single this week and should have something for you in the near future,” singer Jen Cloher said.

“Our album is scheduled for release early 2009 and we are announcing a November tour in the next few days.”

The new album has a number of guests, including Liz Stringer banjo, Jodi Ludwig-Moore mandolin (Dirty Lucy), Grant Cummerford (Jeff Lang) double bass, Kynan Robinson trombone (Des Peres), Eamon McNelis trumpet, Ben Carr saxophone, Rachel Kim vioin and Ross Calia on piano.

As well as finishing work on their new album, the band has a new line-up.

“Our current line-up includes Biddy Connor viola (the Droid now resides in Spain!), Laura Jean piano and vocals, Jen Sholakis drums, Lord Geoffrey bass, Michael Hubbard guitar and Tom Healy (our new kiwi axeman). It’s a big band and it’s sounding like a much bigger album sonically,” Cloher said.
