Songstress Adele will have to battle it out against the likes of Radiohead, Elbow and Laura Marling if she wishes to take out this year’s Mercury Music Prize.

The UK singer has been named among fellow Brits as part of shortlist for the annual UK award.

Adele has been nominated for her debut album, 19.

Previous winners of the award include Dizzee Rascal, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, Antony and the Johnsons and Franz Ferdinand.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on September 9.
