Lee and Higgins make music together

Ben Lee has teamed up with fellow Aussie, Missy Higgins, on his new album.

Lee and Higgins have recorded two tracks off the as yet titled new album. The tracks are I Love Pop Music and Yoko Ono.

“My good buddy Missy Higgins came by the studio to hang out and added a sweet vocal hook to “I Love Pop Music”. She sounds great on the track. Its the most political song I’ve ever written,” a post on Lee’s myspace.com/benlee said.

“This is a pretty eclectic album. There are so many musical and lyrical moods that I feel have been building in me for a long time. “Ripe” was definitely an exploration in my more conservative inclinations, a fantasy of a pop radio record I would have heard as a kid. I adore that record, but this is definitely a different beast. This one is beautifully chaotic, opinionated, confused, passionate and real. I think you guys will dig it.”

Lee may also work with Dandy Warhols front man Courtney Taylor-Taylor on one of the album’s tracks.

Meanwhile, Lee will return to Australia for a one-off show later this year.

The singer will perform a show in Melbourne this August.

The one-off show will be Lee’s second trip back to Australia in 2008. Earlier this year he returned for a run of dates across the country.

He has also scored spots at past Splendour In The Grass and The Great Escape festivals.
