Xavier Rudd will release his seventh studio album on August 16.

The Melbourne singer’s new album has been titled, Dark Shades of Blue.

The new album was mixed by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age).

As well as a new album, Rudd has been working on the film score for US actor Matthew McConaughey new film, Surfer Dude. The film stars McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and Willie Nelson.

Rudd will spent much of the second part of 2008 on overseas tours, with the singer performing as part of The 2008 Glastonbury festival later this month.

He has also been confirmed for the Jazz Aspen Snowmass and Bumbershoot festivals in August and the Austin City Limits festival in September.

Dark Shades of Blue is the follow up to White Moth, which was released in June last year.
