Serious illness has forced Dardanelles to withdraw from the upcoming JD Set national tour. “It is with regret that we must announce today that we are unable to take part in The JD Set due to the serious illness of a band member," a statement from the band said.
"We would like to apologise to all the fans who were looking forward to coming to see us and take this opportunity to thank all involved in The JD Set for their support and understanding.”
The Melbourne band were named one of the three winners of the first round of The JD Set.
With the tour kicking off tonight at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, the promoters are currently locking in a replacement band.
In April, Dardanelles along with Angelas Dish and Braindead Lovers have taken out the first round of the first ever JD Set.
