Coldplay: Violet Hill

Volet Hill
Capitol/Parlophone
Violet Hill is a huge step away from the trademark Coldplay sound.
The lead single off the UK band’s upcoming album, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends, offers little in the way of the warm atmospheric buzz that has filtered through Coldplay’s previous records.
Chris Martin’s gentle vocals are awash with hectic guitar and heavy drums.
The single offers a darker peak into the sonic mind maze of Coldplay. Though, perhaps its merely a case of the band finally being brave enough to experiment beyond soft pop?
Don’t be surprised if Violet Hill takes a few listens before you adjust. Though in my view it’s worth the wait.
