The US band, fronted by Anton Newcombe, will tour as part of an east coast run of shows in August.
Formed in 1990 in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, The Brian Jonestown Massacre has had some 40 different members over the years.
A number of past members have gone on to form groups such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Warlocks, The Ravonettes, The Lovetones and Spindift.
Brian Jonestown Massacre featured heavily in the 2004 documentary, DIG!, which followed Newcombe and those of his rival, Courtney Taylor, leader of the Dandy Warhols.
Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Australian tour dates will be released shortly.
