The Grates begin work on new album

The Grates have revealed details of their new studio album.

The Brisbane trio are in the US recording their second studio album, Teeth Lost, Hearts Won.

The band has reunited with are producer Peter Katis (Interpol, Tokyo Police Club) and is recording the new in Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Katis also produced The Grates debut album, Gravity Won’t Get You High.

Commenting on the new album, The Grates said: “ ‘Teeth Lost, Hearts Won’ is an album in the same high spirit as our first, but with a greater sense of dreaminess, grandness and guts. The last few years of touring really fed our confidence and built our sound. Whilst writing we fought each other, but didn’t write songs of frustration, rather respecting the battles as a passage for growth. We chased what excited us and celebrate in our achievements, as friends.”

The Grates expect to release “Teeth Lost, Hearts Won” in August through Dew Process.
