The Presets new album has raced to the top of the local album charts in only its first week since release.

Apocalypso has topped the ARIA album charts.

The Sydney duo beat out fellow local act Cog who’s new album, Sharing Space, debuted at number two.

The next best placed Ausssie outfit is Cut Copy. The Melbourne outfit are at number nine with their latest release, In Ghost Colours.

“Thanks for everyone who bought ‘Apocalypso’ in its first week - you guys have made the album go straight in to number one!” Presets members Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes wrote in a post to their myspace.com/thepresets page.

The Presets released Apocalypso on April 12.

The duo has announced a national Australian tour for this June.
