Cut Off Your Hands has begun work on their debut studio album.

The New Zealand band has re-teamed with Bernard Butler on the as yet titled new album. Butler produced the band 2007 EP, Blue On Blue.

The band has released the first single off the new album to their myspace page. The single, Oh Girl, can be heard here.

“Australia can expect a series of singles in the coming months - before the full length release around late August. The band will be out mid year for a quick stop over before returning to tour said record later on,” the band’s management said.

The band will mix the new album at Scottish musician Edwyn Collins’ studio.

Cut Off Your Hands will support Collins later this month as part of his UK tour.

Collins has returned to recording and touring after suffering a major cerebral hemorrhage in 2005. Since then he has released his sixth studio album, Home Again.

Cut Off Your Hands expects to have their debut album ready by August.
