Cut Copy top charts with new album

Posted on 01 April 2008 by admin

Cut Copy’s latest album has rocketed straight to the top of the Australian record charts.

The Melbourne trio’s second album, In Ghost Colours, has topped the Motorola Aria Album charts at number one in its first week.

“It’s such an incredible honour. We’d never really aimed for or expected this kind of response to our album release. But it probably says a lot about how Australian audiences have changed in the time since we have started as a band’, Cut Copy member Dan Whitford said.

Cut Copy beat out the international contenders in Jack Johnson, Rihanna, and Michael Jackson for the top spot.

The next best placed Australian acts on the album chart was Gyroscope at number 7 with their album, Breed Obsession and The Veronicas at number 10.

Cut Copy released In Ghost Colours on March 22. The album is the follow up to their 2004 debut, Bright Like Neon Love.
