Coldplay look set to release the follow up to X&Y this June.

The UK band are putting the finishing touches on their new album, Viva la Vida, or Death and all his friends.

Band front man Chris Martin told Rolling Stone magazine the album’s title takes its name from a painting by acclaimed Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.

Coldplay are working on the new album with musician and producer Brian Eno (Talking Heads, U2, Devo, Ultravox and James).

The album is due for release on June 8. It is the first studio release for the band since their 2005 release, X&Y.

Late last week Coldplay announced they will headline the new Pemberton Festival in British Colombia, Canada, this July.
