The Mess Hall wins Australian music prize

The Sydney band beat out a field of 10 artists for the prize including Midnight Juggernauts, New Buffalo, Architecture In Helsinki and New Buffalo.
For their win The Mess Hall takes home a cash prize of $25,000 and a $30,000 media campaign courtesy of XYZ Networks music channel Max.
“The Mess Hall are certainly deserving of this prize and following The Drones and Augie March, The Amp prize director Scott Murphy said.
The win tops off an impressive year for the band. Not only do they have a support slot for the Foo Fighters in their sights, The Mess Hall are to step out on a headlining tour in April.
Fellow nominees Bluejuice and New Buffalo were also given awards in the third annual event.
Bluejuice took out the Red Bull Award for outstanding potential while New Buffalo won the MySpace public vote.
Previous winners of The AMP are Augie March and The Drones.
