Gyroscope rediscover their chemistry

The Perth band released their new album, Breed Obsession, today.
Work on the new album began in November 2006 after the band’s tour of South Africa.
It is the first album the band has written together since their previous release, Are You Involved?
“We had just spent 18 months touring around Australia and various parts of the world and reconnecting to write songs was a challenge,” the band said.
The first batch of 11 complete songs was finished by December and January. However, despite completing a large portion of the album, the band felt in some parts the tracks had little chemistry.
“This was real turning point for us. It forced us to look closer at the way were writing songs. It also encouraged us to be braver and challenge ourselves and each other in the studio. The 12th song we wrote was ‘Snakeskin’ This really felt like the beginning of the writing process for us,” the band said.
“The Chemistry was back and in ‘Snakeskin’ we had a song that felt like a real progression for us. Once this song was complete the others really began to flow. In the end we demoed a total of 29 songs of which 12 have made the final cut for Breed Obsession.”
