Magic Dirt is putting the finishing touches on their latest album, their first record through their indie label.

The Melbourne band will release the as yet untitled album through their independent label, Emergency Music. Magic Dirt has previously released albums with Warner Music.

“Things are going really well here in the studio. We’ve got a couple more pieces of music to finish off in the mixing process. It’s been a full-on 2 weeks tracking and mixing this last batch of songs,” Magic Dirt front woman Adalita said.

“The nights are stretching out longer and longer every time so we’re just zombies by the time we drive home. There’s a lot of concentration and attentiveness in the control room, tweaking vocals and levels of instrumentation.

“It’s amazing how much time it takes to adjust one little bit in one little section and then listen to that section in relation to the rest of the song and then keep working with it til it sounds right. And then to move on to the next little bit. It’s a full on thing. But very rewarding in the end.”

While no exact release dates are known for Magic Dirt’s new album, it is expected to be released later this year.
