Posted on 13 February 2008 by admin

New Buffalo has been named among the shortlist for this year’s Australian Music Prize (AMP).

The Melbourne singer will join the ranks of fellow winners Augie March and The Drones if she takes home this year’s prize. She will also take home $25,000 if she wins.

New Buffalo aka Sally Seltmann has been short listed for her album, Somewhere Anywhere.

She faces tough competition from fellow short list nominees in Architecture In Helsinki (Places Like This), bluejuice (Problems), Dardanelles (Mirror Mirror), Devastations (Yes U), Lisa Miller (Morning In The Bowl Of Night), Midnight Juggernauts (Dystopia), Perry Keyes (Last Ghost Train Home), The Mess Hall (Devils Elbow) and Urthboy (The Signal).

The full short list was announced last night in Sydney.

The 2007 AMP winner will be announced on March 13.

Melbourne’s Augie March took home the prize last year for their album, Moo You Bloody Choir. The Drones won the award in 2005 for their album, Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By.
