US band signs local deal

Posted on 06 February 2008 by admin

US outfit Port O’Brien has inked a deal with an Australian indie label for the local release of their new album.

The international act has signed with Brisbane-based label, Dew Process. They now join the likes of Sarah Blasko, The Grates, Bernard Fanning, and The Panics on the label.

Port O’Brien will release their new album, All We Could Do Was Sing, in May. They plan to follow up the album release with a tour later in the year.

The first single off the album, “I Woke Up Today” is due out to Australian radio in March.

The album was recorded in San Francisco, CA by two engineers – Aaron Prellwitz and Jason Quever.

Prellwitz recorded the band at Tiny Telephone Recording Studios, where he has also recorded the Mountain Goats and Death Cab for Cutie. The other half of the songs were recorded by Jason from the Papercuts at PanAmerican Studios.

Port O’Brien’s Australian tour dates have not yet been released.
